This soccer and volleyball overseas trip is not only a training program, but also a religious journey. We cooperated with Ipoh Bugs, a sports ministry organization, to organize this trip of 6 days and 5 nights. In total, 23 students, 5 coaches, 2 teachers and our assistant school chaplain joined the trip. Other than sports training and friendly matches with local schools, we joined Christian Fellowship and Worship in the local church.
One of the programs was “being an Ipoh student”. In SMJK Sam Tet, a national-type Chinese-based Roman Catholic secondary school for boys, our students joined the lessons after a friendly match there. It was such a valuable opportunity for our students to experience the local learning environment and understand the daily life of local students. Upon leaving, everyone was reluctant to leave and kept exchanging contact information.
During the school tour in Seri Botani International School, the school arranged a program about traditional painting where students could get to know more about local traditional culture.
Aside from soccer and volleyball, which our students are most familiar with, they also learned a popular local ball game, Captain Ball, during the trip.
What students cherish even more are the days spent with their teammates and coaches. Deep talks, mass games, night snacks… All these have given them an unforgettable journey.
