Life Camp Held by School and Church
13 JUL, 2024

Life Camp was held from July 13 to 15 this year. It is a yearly religious camp jointly organized by the Religious Committee and the Shatin Methodist Church for Form 1 to Form 5 students.  Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service was also invited to lead the camp activities in these two years.  In addition to realizing the "three-in-one" school running feature of the Methodist Church, it also allowed students to get in touch with different groups and broaden their horizons.

This three-day and two-night camp was held in Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre.  The theme of the camp is to promote students' initiative to participate in activities and strengthen their awareness of making choices, thereby strengthening students' autonomy.  Through leading activities, church members can get to know students and establish initial relationships and students can learn to communicate with others, express their needs and handle stress.

The highlight of the camp every year is the religious program on the second night.  Firstly, Sensor, the worship team from Shatin Methodist Church, led the worship.  Then, our retired Vice Principal Mrs. C.H. Wong shared her testimony on how she made choices led by God.  Finally, our Assistant School Chaplain Mr. K.H. Ng shared the story of making choices from the Bible.

In total, 23 students and 9 church members joined the camp. We are grateful that some of the students keep joining Shatin Methodist Church Youth Zone after the camp.
